And it goes without saying but once you've done that, take the fastest 40/43 and set your field, no provisionals. Simple as that. Why is Indy 500 qualifying (and Bump Day in particular) so intense, memorable, and special? Nobody is owed a spot. Everything is earned.

According to Racing Reference, CART sent 4 cars home from Mid-Ohio in '94 and 1 in '95, having reached the max of 28 entries. The series ran with that many cars there 8 times total, but the general belief now is even 27 is really pushing it. https://t.co/qNhSPOURuI
